The results of a big-team cross cultural research study by Haskins researcher, Sam Mehr, on the sounds of infant-directed speech and song, was recently highlighted in the press and published in Nature Human Behavior. Read the New York Times article here.

In Memoriam: Philip Lieberman, July 12, 2022

Philip Lieberman, a George Hazard Crooker University Professor Emeritus at Brown University, died on July 12, 2022 at the age of 87. Dr. Lieberman was a world-renowned cognitive scientist and phonetician, whose research focused on the nature and evolution of the biological bases of human language and cognition.

David Lewkowicz featured in Washington Post article on mask-wearing and children’s language development, March 5, 2022

In a March 5th article in the Washington Post, Haskins Senior Scientist, Dr. David Lewkowicz, offered expert insight to the question of whether children’s language development is affected by interacting with adults whose mouths are concealed behind COVID masks.

The 12th International Seminar on Speech Production (ISSP2020), organized through Haskins, took place online as a fully virtual meeting December 14-18th, 2020. The proceedings have been published by the Haskins Press and can be accessed from here.

Haskins Laboratories is presently in a unique transition period.
